ADVANCE YOUR EDUCATION

Are you ready to take your career in education to its highest level? Virginia State University’s Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) program is designed for ambitious education professionals who are passionate about transforming the future of education.

Designed for working professionals with an earned master’s degree or relevant professional experience, this program’s flexible online format allows you to balance your studies with your professional and personal obligations. Interested applicants must be engaged in research to improve policy and practice, and be attuned to issues of equity.

How it Works:

You can achieve your doctorate without disrupting your day-to-day-life. Courses are fully online and taught by faculty specially trained in online instruction.

In this program, you’ll take two courses in the fall and spring semesters and three courses during the summer session. In the third week of June each year, you’ll meet for a face-to-face residency. You’ll earn your doctorate degree after accomplishing 60 credit hours, typically complete within three years.

Upon execution of the coursework, you’ll be required to complete a Dissertation in Practice.

What You’ll Learn:

This advanced degree equips you with leadership skills, research expertise, and practical knowledge needed to address real-world challenges in schools, universities, and educational institutions. Whether you’re a principal, administrator, teacher, or policymaker, the Ed.D program offers specialized tracks tailored to your career goals. With a focus on research-based practices and practical application, you’ll graduate prepared to lead in curriculum development, policy advocacy, or higher education.

Costs:

This part-time, fully online degree keeps affordability top of mind.

With pay-as-you-go tuition for both in- and out-of-state students, you’ll pay by the course you take.
